“It is the natural world that nurtures, heals and inspires me. A feeling of being healed, while in a natural setting, compels me to create art based on nature. My hope is that by viewing my work people will share in that connection.”
— Jude Vasconcellos
Jude Vasconcellos
I have been a professional artist since the 1970’s. Creating art to wear and accessories led me to an interest in jewelry. After instruction in jewelry and ceramic sculpture I found my expression in larger metal projects and searched out teachers who could show me how to move metal.
While living in Texas I interned with Austin artist Darryl Colburn at Laughing at the Sun Fine Art Gallery where I learned direct metal techniques using recycled copper for decorative design and sculpture.
My next opportunity took me to Deep in the Heart Art Foundry where I worked as a wax technician while having access to the complete fine art foundry facility to pursue my own projects in cast bronze. I became a member of the Texas Society of Sculptors and the Austin Creative Arts Society.
For the past twenty years I have been showing and selling at juried shows and exhibits throughout Texas and California; including Mustard Festival 2008 where I won a Third Place in the Sculpture category.
All of my designs are inspired by nature. My hope is that those who view my work will be reminded that we all have a deep connection to the natural world and that our human energy is part of the universe that surrounds and fills us all.
“Jude is an amazing crazy artist who has made or makes nearly all kinds of art one can imagine. She loves to talk to you about art and I know you would walk away satisfied from any purchase.” - Sophie Scopazzi
